Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator’s 17th International Cultural Exchange to Antigua, West Indies, Thursday -Tuesday, March 13– March 17, 2014. Artists are selected to represent Miami-Dade in the fifth DVCAI artists’ biennial to the Caribbean.

Diaspora Vibe’s International Cultural Exchange is a six-eight day exchange, Friday to Saturday in which artists of diverse backgrounds working in varied media converge to explore the concept of “Cultural Diaspora” intellectually and creatively in “Queen: Everything All at Once” deeply immerse self in discussion through workshops, chat sessions, studio visits, and cross cultural dialogue centering around cultural identity and projects.

It will serve as a forum for artists speaking with artists about issues confronting their professional and artistic development now and in the future. This is our first cultural exchange to Antigua, and our fifth to an English speaking Caribbean island.

Since its inception in 1996, Diaspora Vibe has functioned as a laboratory to promote, nurture and cultivate the vision and diverse talents of emerging artists from the Caribbean Diaspora and other artists of color from immigrant experiences. This project was conceptualized as an extension of DVCAI programming goals to provide artists with a contemporary visual sensibility and a safe space to explore and experiment with new forms and themes without having to deny or downplay strong connections with their countries of origin and their immigrant experience.
