35th Annual James A. Porter Colloquium on African American Art and Art of the African Diaspora at Howard University

Excited to share that I’ll be joining the 35th Annual James A. Porter Colloquium on African American Art and Art of the African Diaspora at Howard University this April.
I’ve been invited to participate in a roundtable titled “Artists Rethinking Race” — a timely, necessary conversation centered on how racial difference is constructed, visualized, and challenged in the field of art.
Alongside artists Derrick Adams and Zoe Charlton, and moderated by Jacqueline Francis, we’ll each present work that speaks to race as a visual language — one shaped by history, lived experience, and the intersections of identity. The roundtable will explore how we as artists navigate and question the social, political, and aesthetic weight of race in our practices.
This gathering of scholars, artists, and thinkers promises to advance critical race art history, and I’m honored to be part of it.
Big thanks to Dr. Melanee C. Harvey, the Driskell Center, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Association for Critical Race Art History for making this space possible.
See you at Howard, April 3rd - 5th.
