Juana Valdés commissioned for new work by the South Dade Transit Corridor Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Stations & Garage

Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs through its Art in Public Places Program and The Department of Transportation and Public Works, with partners OHL USA and AECOM commissioned Juana Valdés to design a public art installation for the South Corridor (South Dade Transitway) Rapid Transit Project of the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan. 

The project consists of 14 new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations and a major park-and-ride garage. It is anticipated that opportunities for public art will be focused on a series of commissions at three key station locations (northernmost + southernmost BRT Stations and park-and-ride garage) and at least five commissions at designated BRT Stations within the boundaries of the major municipalities along the corridor.
